Activities of the Neuropsychologist
The Neuropsychologist plans, executes and evaluates the most appropriate therapeutic interventions after a thorough neuropsychological evaluation.
Neuropsychological assessment aims to identify, describe and quantify the cognitive and behavioral deficits acquired after a brain injury or dysfunction.
It provides for different types of intervention:
-
neuropsychological rehabilitation : it is used to optimize the recovery of impaired cognitive abilities (attention, language, verbal / non-verbal communication, actions, perception, memory, visuospatial skills, reasoning, executive functions, emotions and behavior), to facilitate strategies that allow to compensate for deficits and improve the patient's ability to adapt to the environment and everyday life activities.
-
Improvement of neuropsychological skills : the interventions aim at promoting the development, acquisition and enhancement of cognitive functions. The purpose of these interventions is to reduce the consequences of the disorder/pathology. This type of intervention is aimed at children with learning disabilities (difficulty in reading, writing and calculating).
